life in the f.a.s.t. lane

Dear Blog...
I am so sorry that I have been missing a lot lately, I feel like I've left you hanging! I guess you could say I have. Last week was crazier than all get out! I told you about my amazing Monday that was spent with Theresa! Well that was just the beginning of that week.

There are few things about life that I just don't like and one of them is an alarm clock. Yes you heard me right an alarm clock!!! We are NOT friends! I had to actually set an alarm clock every morning last week because I had to be up at 6am to be on the road for 7am. I know I'm being whiney but I'm not used to it! So not only did I have to set an alarm clock I'm weird with the fact that I ALWAYS wake up before it actually goes off so I don't have to hear it!

Oh yeh and every night I actually picked out my clothes for the next day so all I had to do was wake up shower and go. No decisions, and in the life of a girl that is pretty serious stuff!
I had a lot of firsts last week, one being that I actually made my own coffee every morning instead of waking up to it already being made! Second I found myself at a gas station at 7:10am filling up with gas, then jumping back in the car to hit the road and listen to WWL to get traffic conditions! This was quite a change of pace of life for me.
I know I still haven't told you WHY I actually did all of that...the reason is I was teaching a music theory class at a music school in Covington.
That was a lot of fun! I'll have to grace you with
pictures sometime soon...yes I did take pictures!

Anyway then everyday I came home and taught
all of my students and pretty much lived a crazy life last week.

Another thing I can't wait to show you is I had an amazing photo session with one of my best friends on Sunday afternoon. She came down on Friday to visit and spend the weekend...we had a blast! Blog I think you're going to love her pictures:-) At least I think so anyway...
I had a great week though even though I kind of left you out of it. So sorry...I'm pretty much around from now on!
-Yours Truly

One.2.One Business day | Erin Rachel Photography

Wow...as I reflect over this day and journey with a friend I am amazed!
I absolutely, whole heartedly L.O.V.E. teaching and seeing people learn!
I want them to be successful in their life and business.
I am humbled at the fact that this gal, who has become a friend, would
let me spend the day with her teaching her all of the ins and outs
about a photography business. When I say all...I mean all that I know...I have
by NO means arrived. I am still learning DAILY and am loving it!

We started off the day at CC's Coffee House in Slidell digging deep
into Who Are You? What makes you tick? What do you like?
What do you not like? What do you love to do? Where do you love
to shop? What drives you? What is your favorite color? What are your
goals in life? When you look back over your life what do you want
to be said of you? What three words describe you? And yeh the list goes on!
Photobucket
Then the fun started...showing her where to pick out a color palette that
goes together, to fonts, to blogging (...my favvvv past time!!!), to setting
up domain names etc.

We took a break and headed over to Sunrise on Second for some yummy lunch
and to continue "talking business" ha!
Photobucket
When you both love it...it's so fun and super easy!
This is where we started talking about "the money". So we broke down her packages
and prices...only to find out she pretty much could work at Wal-Mart and make more!

This is when she drew all over her paper saying..."Wake-up Call"!!!
Photobucket
So now that we have some things in order I think she'll be making some money now. As well as knows how to base her pricing etc. This part made her happy!!

Before it decided to start raining on us we packed up and hit the streets on a photo session.
As a photographer you RARELY have nice pictures of yourself so as part of the day I wanted
to do a shoot of just her...she's so fun! Full of personality!!!

We wrapped the day up at Starbucks...yes had to get my fix!!!
Answering questions, talking about shooting techniques, making time for yourself
and not getting wrapped up in business all the time, staying organized, the affects of
blogging, outsourcing to save yourself time, giving back to others, the experience of a session/shoot from beginning to end, editing your pictures, software and yeh the list goes on! Fun stuff!

Thanks Theresa for an amazing day, filled with fun, getting to know you better, talking
what we love to talk about, seeing your business grow and I can't wait to see you take off even more!!!

One-on-One Session with Michelle | Erin Rachel Photography

So I get a phone call sometime in November-ish from Michelle's husband
David asking opinions on cameras. He wanted to buy Michelle
a good camera so I gave my opinions and basically just said
"whatever you do buy Canon" :-) This was the best advice I could give!!!!
He asked about me spending
some time with Michelle showing her how to use her camera
and all of the ins and outs. Since they live in Huntsville, AL she
wouldn't be around to take a workshop, so I said absolutely YES!
He called me back a few weeks later saying he had gotten her
Two thumbs up for David:-) He bought her a great camera, surprised
her for Christmas and even went a step further with this session!

Michelle called me two days after Christmas all excited and totally
surprised at her camera! We set up a day to get together for
a few hours.

Little did we know that the Wednesday we met a PJ's Coffee house
that it would be freezing cold and rainy and cloudy! But hey we
can't control everything right!
We grabbed a cup of coffee and hot chocolate and went to work:-)
So after spending a couple hours going through composing a picture,
to how to use her settings etc. We headed outside to a nearby church
that has a huge covering over the front and worked on a few
projects!

Michelle walked away shooting in manual mode:-)
So proud of her!!! Keep it up girl!
Thanks for such an awesome session!
